About the Role
Are you a qualified mechanical engineer looking for variety in your day-to-day work? This isn’t a standard workshop role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in a range of operational tasks—from gear maintenance, welding and safety checks to coordinating equipment logistics and supporting port operations.
Location: Marsden Point Port
Status: Monday to Friday 9-hour shifts with callout availability plus weekends when required
Your job duties would be:
- Maintain, repair, and prepare gearstore equipment for shipping cargo operations.
- Conduct pre-operation safety checks, maintain a tidy gear store, and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Oversee equipment inventory, conduct regular inspections, and coordinate timely delivery and recovery of equipment after each vessel.
- Support the workshop with machine maintenance and repair work.
You will also need:

Level 3 Trade Certificate (minimum).

Mechanical engineering/welding experience.

Physically fit and comfortable working both independently and in a team.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Willingness to take on varied tasks and upskill through training.

Full driver’s licence and reliable transport.
