ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary role of Due to increase in our operations, Harvestco Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Qube Forestry, require a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Mount Gambier in South Australia.

As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for the service, inspection and repair of Qube mobile machinery and ancillary equipment (owned, partially owned, hired and/or leased to Qube). Your everyday responsibilities will include:

  • Perform mechanical inspections and servicing (Preventative maintenance tasks) as directed by the Transport & Maintenance Coordinator
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance (corrective maintenance tasks) as directed by the Transport & Maintenance Coordinator
  • Attend to, rectify and report any equipment breakdowns immediately
  • Notify workshop manager of any defects/damage on all mobile equipment
  • Complete any mechanical works as recommended by Original Equipment Manufacturer, including detecting faults, disassembling parts and engines, repairing and reassembling parts and engines
  • Ensure all completed mechanical documentation are submitted to the Transport & Maintenance Coordinator for record keeping
  • Assist in identifying and implementing maintenance opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in any meetings including any prestart, HSE, maintenance toolbox meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary
  • Liaise with Transport & Maintenance Coordinator to ensure major plant inspections and major repairs are planned and scheduled
  • Attend Fleet roadside breakdowns as required

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Mechanical trade certificate (desirable, but not essential)
  • Minimum of two (2) years heavy/medium/light vehicle experience
  • Experience in mobile plant equipment. Heavy Vehicle mobile mining equipment preferred
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
  • Sound skills using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
  • Ability to work well within a small team environment

This is a full-time position offering a generous salary between $82,992 plus superannuation to the right candidate (depending on experience).
