ABOUT THE ROLE

The Lift Operator will typically work as part of a small team performing well defined tasks where there are a specific objective and outcome. Primary purpose of the role is to operate and control heavy lifting plant and equipment, primarily Reach Stackers (3–45 tonne capacity), to lift, move, position, stack and place containers, heavy cargo and oversized industrial equipment within port, yard and warehouse environments. Ensure all lifting operations are conducted safely, efficiently and in compliance with operational, regulatory and safety requirements.

LOCATION: NORTH WEST SUPPLY BASE, KARRATHA

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate Reach Stackers and other lifting plant to lift, move, load, unload and stack shipping containers, oversized cargo and heavy equipment.
  • Select, inspect, test and use appropriate lifting gear including slings, chains, spreader bars, hooks and tag lines.
  • Perform dogging, rigging and spotting duties to support safe lifting operations.
  • Manoeuvre containers within operational yards and storage areas in accordance with site plans and operational instructions, including controlling the movement of loads and monitoring speed.
  • Ensure correct load calculations and safe working load limits are observed.
  • Safely load and unload trucks, trailers and other transport vehicles, ensuring compliance with axle weight and load restraint requirements.
  • Position and secure loads accurately to prevent damage or instability.
  • Operate lifting equipment in confined or high-traffic operational environments.
  • Maintain lifting gear and equipment in safe and serviceable condition.
  • Conduct daily pre-start inspections of cranes, reach stackers and associated plant and equipment.
  • Identify and report faults, damage or unsafe conditions.
  • Perform routine servicing and basic maintenance incidental to plant operation, including lubrication and replacement of worn cables.
  • Follow Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and lifting procedures, including comply with workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Complete required operational documentation and records relating to cargo movement and equipment use.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hold Certificate II or higher, or have at least 1+ year of experience in a similar role
  • Computer literate and experienced in MS Office Suite
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence (Car)
  • Current Forklift Licence (LF)
  • Current Reach Stacker competency
  • Mobile Crane Operator qualification (desired)
  • Pro-active, goal oriented with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent customer focus and able to consistently meet Qube Energy expectations
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups, and make presentations when required
  • Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn and continuously improve on performance.
  • Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity
  • Analytical thinker with proactive approach to task resolution

 

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING

This is a full-time position offering a generous salary between $70,000 to $95,000 plus mandatory superannuation contribution (depending on experience).
