ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Contracts Manager is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the contracts management function within Qube Ports division, reporting directly to the General Manager Commercial. This key position manages a team of Contracts Managers specialising in stevedoring, oil & gas, energy, and forestry. The role ensures that contract strategies and operations align with business objectives and client requirements across all sectors, delivering value and upholding compliance standards.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Contracts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Set objectives, monitor performance, and support professional growth for team members.
  • Have oversight of contracts within the business.
  • Ensure contracts are commercially sound, compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, and meet client expectations.
  • Monitor contract lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders in the business.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex contract issues and disputes.
  • Drive process improvements and best practice adoption in contract management.
  • Champion innovation and technology utilisation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work with the General Manager Commercial to continue to adapt the business plan as the Company grows and needs change.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Previous experience managing a team of people
  • Contract negotiation skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State contracts and commercial legislation and standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power point
  • Knowledge of Salesforce platform
  • Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
  • Ability to work well within a small team environment
  • Strong commercial focus
  • High level analytical skills
