The Opportunity
The Time & Attendance Manager is responsible for leading one of the divisions Time & Attendance functions. The role ensures the accurate and timely processing of employee time records, roster compliance, leave management, and attendance data to support payroll processing.
The position provides operational leadership, technical expertise, and coaching to the Time & Attendance team while driving continuous improvement, ensuring legislative compliance, and maintaining high levels of customer service across the organisation.
Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Time & Attendance team.
- Allocate work and monitor workloads to ensure service standards and payroll deadlines are achieved.
- Manage complex and escalated attendance enquiries.
- Ensure accurate processing of timesheets, leave transactions, roster exceptions, and employee attendance records.
- Maintain the integrity of the Time & Attendance system.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows and system efficiencies
- Monitor service delivery against agreed KPIs and service level agreements.
- Supervise, coach, mentor and develop team members.
- Conduct regular performance discussions and support individual development plans.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing and customer-focused team culture.
- Provide technical guidance on complex attendance matters.
- Ensure compliance with industrial awards, enterprise agreements, legislation and organisational policies.
- Accuracy and timeliness of Time & Attendance processing.
- Monitor adherence to payroll cut-off dates and audit requirements.
- Identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare operational reports on attendance, leave, overtime and workforce trends.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years' experience in Workforce Management, Payroll or Time & Attendance.
- Experience in the Deputy Time and Attendance system would be desirable but not essential”
- Demonstrated experience leading a Time & Attendance or Payroll operations team.
- Extensive knowledge of Time & Attendance processes and payroll operations.
- Strong understanding of Australian industrial awards, enterprise agreements and employment legislation.
- Experience using enterprise Time & Attendance systems
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of organisational and time management skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Payroll, Business or a related discipline
