ABOUT THE ROLE:


As a Data Warehouse Administrator/Developer specializing in Amazon Redshift, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our data warehouse environment. You will collaborate closely with our data engineering and analytics teams to ensure our data infrastructure meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to impactful data initiatives. This position is full-time based in Australia or New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage data warehouse. Develop and enforce data warehouse standards and best practices.
  • Manage and administer Amazon Redshift clusters to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Monitor and optimize Redshift database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource utilization.
  • Implement and maintain data warehouse security policies and access controls.
  • Develop data security policies to protect sensitive information. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for Redshift.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to design and implement efficient ETL processes and data pipelines. Ensure data quality and consistency through automated workflows.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data warehouse solutions meet business needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data warehouse operations, performance, and data integrity.
  • Offer training and support to team members on data warehouse tools and best practices. Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Stay updated on data warehouse technologies and recommend new tools and methodologies. Explore advanced data technologies like machine learning and AI.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience as a Data Warehouse Administrator/Developer or similar role, focusing on Amazon Redshift.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling and schema design.
  • Hands-on experience with Redshift performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced skills in EL processes. Experience with EL/ETL tools such as Fivetran, AWS Glue, etc.
  • Proficiency in AWS services including AWS Redshift, DMS, S3, Lambda, and Glue.
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse security, governance, and compliance principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty).
  • Experience with other data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and data manipulation tasks.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
