About the Role

Based in our Sydney Office, the Leasing and Licensing Manager will be a key member of the commercial team who will assist with driving commercial outcomes in the Qube Ports Business Unit. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to manage the leases relating to Qube’s extensive leasehold interests throughout Australia. This consists of a portfolio of some 70 leases of varying complexity ranging from long term port leases to more discrete short term licenses over other property assets.

The candidate will also more generally support the commercial and contracts team by assisting with matters relating to tenders, reviewing contracts and preparing clarifications, contract negotiation and execution, supporting post-award contracts management, preparing contract variations and contract renewals.

Our ideal candidate will have strong leasing and contracts management experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and customers. You will be analytical, knowledgable, commercially astute and pragmatic and, importantly, an adaptable and approachable team player.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively managing Qube’s extensive portfolio of leasehold interests to ensure compliance, performance and timely renewal. This will involve a familiarity with leasing terms and conditions, notice periods, options, make good provisions, rate reviews and liaising with property agents and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reviewing credit applications and customer questionnaires relating to HSE, compliance and other customer requirements.
  • General finance and bank security and guarantee management tasks.
  • Assisting more generally with lease amendments, the preparation and approval of contracts, NDAs, sale agreements, variations, service agreements and other commercial documents.
  • Reviewing terms and conditions and preparing clarification schedules in accordance with Qube’s risk management protocols and guidelines.
  • Liaising with insurance brokers to ensure compliance for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the informal resolution of disputes.
  • Assisting the tender and bid team as-and-when required in the preparation of bid submissions.
  • Assisting the General Manager and Contracts Manager as required.

 

Skills and Experience

  • At least five years demonstrated experience in a leasing or contracts management role ideally gained in the ports, logistics or commercial property sector.
  • Experience with the entire contract life cycle process from lease or contract formation and execution to variation and renewal and all associated contracts management duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle negotiations in a commercially astute and professional manner.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Strong document management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in lines of insurance relevant to the business and ability to liase with insurance brokers.
  • Knowledge of applicable State and Commonwealth legislation as commonly cited in leasing and other contractual agreements.
  • Knowledge of the ASDEFCON suite of contracts would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint and knowledge of Salesforce is desirable.
  • Commercially focused, analytical, and with the ability to communicate with a diverse cross section of stakeholders.
