ABOUT THE ROLE

The Container Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the inventory of containers within a designated facility or organization. This role involves tracking, monitoring, and coordinating the movement, storage, and utilization of containers to ensure optimal efficiency and accuracy in inventory management. The Container Inventory Controller works closely with various departments, suppliers, and logistics teams to maintain an accurate count of containers, streamline operations, and support overall supply chain management.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate records of all containers in the Rental management system / Maintenance System / Tracking System.
  • Monitor container movements, including inbound and outbound movements, transfers, and returns.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies or variances in container counts and take corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to schedule container movements and optimize container utilization.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and return of containers.
  • Track container locations, both on-site and off-site, and update the system accordingly.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal stakeholders to meet container needs and resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Manage depot locations where repairs are being completed for customer containers
  • Prepare regular reports on container inventory levels, usage, and trends.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for optimizing container management processes.
  • Continuously assess and enhance container management procedures to streamline operations.
  • Identify and implement best practices to improve inventory accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new inventory management systems or technologies.
  • Third party coordination and verification of invoicing.
  • Coordinate the repair / maintenance / certification of containers as required
  • Updating of maintenance system with relevant paperwork
  • Delivering on reporting requirements to customers
  • Manage on hire / off hire requirements with Customers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in container inventory control or related inventory management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, best practices, and systems.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful insights.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to container management is a plus.
  • Logistics industry experience highly regarded
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power point
