About the role

The primary purpose of the Shore Operations Officer – Heavy is to provide support to Barrow Island’s heavy machinery operations through the operation and maintenance of MHE and heavy vehicles, as well as assist in the day-to-day operational needs of the site in a safe and efficient manner.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Efficient operation of Reach Stacker, Side loader trailers (including rigging duties where required), MHE (various sizes 2 tonne forklift up to 45 tonne reach stacker) and heavy vehicles
  • Ensure all operations are carried out as per the Chevron Quarantine Management Plan specific to site
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, fatigue, heavy vehicle guidelines and any other relevant policies and procedures whilst carrying out tasks
  • Handling of large (bulky and over length) industrial equipment and goods (including DG) using appropriate MHE & PPE
  • Correct operation, maintenance and use of company vehicles and yard / warehouse equipment including hand trolleys, pallet jacks, scales, air compressors, high pressure water cleaners, loading ramps, etc.
  • Loading and unloading of light and heavy vehicles
  • Lashing / unlashing of loads on vehicles and in containers
  • Sorting and organisation of Customer goods
  • Stuffing / de-stuffing containers
  • General Yard Duties (as required)
  • Tally and reconciliation of material against con notes, manifests, packing lists, stock count sheets, etc.
  • Assisting the broader supply chain team with coordination of company and customer assets
  • Assisting with container management, tracking and optimisation
  • Accurate and timely completion and processing of all transport and logistics paperwork (con notes, manifests, etc.)
  • Basic inspection of containers, slings, customer goods and equipment for signs of wear or damage
  • Perform daily ‘’pre-start’’ checks and inspections on all plant and equipment prior to use
  • Comply with conditions of entry at all sites, yards and business premises
  • Report all damages, faulty equipment, incidents or accidents in a timely manner
  • Present yourself for work in a clean and tidy uniform

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

Mandatory requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years previous experience in a similar role operating MHE, material handling equipment (inc. reach stackers) Side loaders and heavy vehicle operations experience
  • Must pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test
  • Current Driver's License
  • Current working at heights (within 2 years)
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, iron ore or general crane operations
  • High Risk Work Licence – RS, CO, C1, C6, C2, EWP, FL
  • Dangerous Goods Licence
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State safety and environmental legislation and standards and permitting standards
  • Ability to follow strict workplace and safety procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of Chain of Responsibility and Load Restraint requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
  • Ability to work well within a small team environment and be adaptable in a demanding environment
  • Basic Microsoft Office capabilities.
