About the Role
Are you a qualified mechanical engineer looking for variety in your day-to-day work? This isn’t a standard workshop role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in a range of operational tasks—from gear maintenance, welding and safety checks to coordinating equipment logistics and supporting port operations.
Location: Tauranga Port
Status: Monday to Friday 9 hour shifts with callout availability plus weekends when required
Your job duties would be:

Maintain, repair, and prepare gearstore equipment for shipping cargo operations.

Perform safety checks and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.

Manage inventory, coordinate equipment delivery and recovery, and keep the gearstore tidy and operational.

Liaise with suppliers, operational teams, and maintenance staff to meet equipment needs.

Keep accurate records of maintenance, timesheets, and equipment requests.
You will also need to:

Level 3 Trade Certificate (minimum).

Mechanical engineering experience

Welding Experience

Physically fit and comfortable working both independently and in a team.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Willingness to take on varied tasks and upskill through training.

Full driver’s licence and reliable transport.
