About the Role
We are seeking a Duty Operations Manager to manage our Napier Log Marshalling operation and oversee day-to-day port activities. This role is pivotal in supporting the Port Operations Manager, Supervisors, and Shift Managers, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional customer service.
You’ll be responsible for allocating staff, managing safety and quality standards, and resolving customer issues as they arise. This is a leadership role requiring strong communication skills, operational knowledge, and the ability to build relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Location: Napier Port
Status: Full-time, Mon-Fri with flexibility required
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage daily log marshalling operations and supervise staff and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Qube’s safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Coordinate labour resources and monitor operational performance.
- Liaise with customers, port companies, vessel agents, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Manage invoices, timesheets, and ensure accurate reporting.
Who we're after:
- Minimum three years’ port supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Computer literacy and moderate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Practical thinker with multi-operational coordination experience.
- Machine operator or mechanical experience/aptitude preferred.
- Training experience or knowledge is a bonus.
- A current Full Class 1 NZ Driver’s License.
