ABOUT THE ROLE

The Defence Logistics Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the delivery of logistics and operational support for Defence naval port visits, both domestically and internationally. Acting as the on-the-ground operational lead, the role ensures Defence requirements are understood, communicated and executed safely, efficiently and to agreed standards, often within time-critical and high-risk environments.

The position plays a key role in stakeholder management, operational problem-solving and team leadership, ensuring Qube Government Services consistently delivers compliant, reliable and value-driven logistics solutions in support of Defence operations.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise logistics and operational support for Defence naval port visits, both domestically and internationally, ensuring services are delivered safely, compliantly and to agreed timelines.
  • Act as the on-site operational lead and primary point of contact during naval port visits, managing day-to-day execution and resolving operational issues in time-critical environments.
  • Liaise closely with Defence (Australian and allied navies), shipping agents, vessel crew, and local service providers to confirm requirements, coordinate services and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Apply a working knowledge of Defence and Navy operating environments to interpret requirements, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and respond effectively to short-notice or changing operational demands.
  • Direct, supervise and support operational staff on the job to ensure safe systems of work, efficient task execution and adherence to Qube and Defence standards.
  • Ensure standards, procedures, and expectations are clearly communicated to operational teams and consistently applied during service delivery.
  • Monitor compliance with employment agreements, WHS, environmental legislation, Defence requirements and company policies, taking corrective action where required.
  • Identify operational risks, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Government Services operations.
  • Represent Qube Government Services professionally when engaging with customers, Defence stakeholders, shipping agents and vessel crews, promoting Qube as a trusted, low-risk logistics partner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Sound knowledge of the maritime industry with government experience
  • Experience in high-risk operating environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
  • Experience in regulated workplace environments.
  • Computer skills – Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards
  • Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
  • Ability to work well within a small team environment
  • Hold, or be eligible to obtain, an AGSVA security clearance to NV1 level
