About the role

We're seeking an experienced and motivated Boilermaker to join our team in Agnes. The primary purpose of the Boilermaker is to perform inspections, fabrication, and welding repairs on mobile equipment and infrastructure in accordance with engineering standards and safety protocols. The role supports operational reliability by providing technical advice, ensuring compliance with hot work procedures, and collaborating with supervisors, inspectors, and engineers to reduce equipment failures and improve maintenance outcomes

Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections as directed by the supervisor on all mobile equipment, buildings/structures and installations
  • Provide failure reports as required/requested
  • Liaise with welding inspectors and design engineers to carry out weld procedures as per engineers drawings and welding inspectors requirement
  • Carry out fabrication and repairs as directed by the supervisor on all mobile plant & equipment
  • Undertake welding and fabrication repairs as per manufacturers recommendations
  • Provide technical engineering advise to reduce systemic failures and repetitive repairs
  • Report any equipment breakdowns and damage immediately
  • Take all steps to ensure fire risks from engineering activities are managed appropriately. E.g. fire watch, cleaning machinery prior to undertaking hot works, using protective leather welding blankets, fire blankets, extinguishers and water pumps are on hand to quickly extinguish any flames or hot slag
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment is isolated electronically before undertaking welding repairs
  • Ensure appropriate hot work permits are obtained before starting any hot works outside of dedicated hot works areas.
  • Ensure all completed documentation is submitted to the supervisor for record keeping
  • Assist in identifying and implementing maintenance opportunities for improvement
  • Liaise with supervision to ensure vehicle inspections and major repairs are planned and scheduled
  • Undertake any task as directed by the supervisor or manager within the scope of the trade
  • Travel to other operations in AUS and undertake repairs as requested
  • Attend additional training courses as necessary to obtain any specific

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade
  • High risk forklift ticket or ability to obtain
  • Ability to obtain an MSIC
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Desirable

  • High Risk Work License including
    • EWP
    • Rigger/Dogman
  • Waste Management Experience
