About the role

The Quarantine Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with DAFF biosecurity requirements at the FDTS. The role involves conducting quarantine inspections, maintaining compliance records, liaising with DAFF Biosecurity Officers, and supporting quarantine activities for Chevron and Barrow Island cargo operations.

Status: Full time

Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform Biosecurity/ Quarantine activities within the FDTS facility and the Qube NWSB.
  • Conduct rural tailgate inspections on behalf of DAFF under WQUBE Approved Arrangement 14.4
  • Administrative duties, including:
    • Bookings (DAFF Inspections)
    • Closing off inspections – checklists and portal
    • Maintain record keeping for DAFF A.A 1.1, 14.4, 4.3, & 4.6.
    • Completion of routine housekeeping checklists and associated record keeping
  • Oversight of the pest and weed management schedule for the FDTS
  • Supervision and performing activities ordered by DAFF such as;
    • Container unpacking, treatments, cleaning on wash-bay, dry remediation and inspections
  • Assist with oversize tyre treatments and inspections
  • Assist with oversize tyre hot washes
  • Conduct Quarantine activities for cargo destined for Barrow Island
  • Ensure all mandatory fumigations are completed and documented as required
  • Assist with internal and external audits through to closing out actions
  • Assist with operational duties within the FDTS as required
  • Coaching and mentoring Qube Authorised Officers and inspectors and any other relevant stakeholders on Qube Biosecurity/ Quarantine processes and obligations

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in quarantine and biosecurity inspections, including the inspection and remediation of complex cargo and equipment.
  • DAFF Authorised Person Accreditation and/or relevant qualification.
  • Thorough knowledge of quarantine and biosecurity inspection requirements and treatment processes in accordance with Commonwealth legislation, including quarantine requirements for Barrow Island under the Chevron Quarantine Management System

Essential

  • Current Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Current Forklift Licence (LF).
  • Pest Management Licence, or willingness and ability to obtain the required qualification within a specified timeframe.
  • Fumigation Licence, or willingness and ability to obtain the required qualification within a specified timeframe.
