About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced System Engineer to join our IT Platform Services team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the reliability, security, and performance of Qube’s server, infrastructure, and platform environments.

You’ll provide end-to-end operational support across production and non-production systems, work closely with internal IT teams and third-party providers, and play a key role in maintaining backup, disaster recovery, patching, and monitoring services. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys operational ownership and problem-solving in a large, complex environment.

Location: Tauranga

Status: Full-Time, Permanent Position Monday - Friday, Office Based

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage and support server, compute, and infrastructure platforms
  • Monitor system health, capacity, performance, and security
  • Provide escalation support to Service Desk and Network teams
  • Resolve incidents, problems, and change requests efficiently
  • Carry out IT work within operational areas, supporting technology on mobile plant, machinery, portacoms, cranes, and other operational equipment as required
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery capability in line with resilience targets
  • Deliver patching, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance
  • Support technical projects and transition solutions into operations
  • Manage third-party service providers and service delivery against SLAs
  • Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, asset registers, and system diagrams
  • Participate in operational reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in a rostered after-hours support schedule

Who we're after:

  • Tertiary qualification in IT
  • 5+ years’ experience in IT operations, platform services, or technical support
  • Experience using tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar
  • Hands-on Operational Technology experience (e.g. electronics, Raspberry Pi’s, camera systems)
  • Strong documentation skills, including system diagrams and operational runbooks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
