ABOUT THE ROLE
Qube is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to join the team. In this hands-on role, you’ll play a key part in keeping our operations running smoothly, delivering mechanical maintenance across site plants, mobile equipment, and vessel-related equipment.
This is a role that offers real variety, along with the chance to make a meaningful impact through continuous improvement initiatives within Qube Ports.
While the role is primarily Monday to Friday, flexibility to work outside core hours, to support vessel operations and respond to urgent breakdowns is highly desirable.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and servicing on plant, mobile equipment, and vessel machinery
- Complete planned maintenance on forklifts, loaders, excavators, and more
- Maintain conveyors, bulk systems, grabs, and hoppers
- Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and welding repairs
- Complete Mainpac work orders accurately and on time
- Conduct pre-starts and identify hazards
- Communicate equipment issues and assist in minimising downtime
- Work with contractors and support continuous improvement
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Trade qualification in a relevant mechanical field (motor mechanic, diesel fitter, mechanical fitter, fitter & turner, boilermaker, welder, or equivalent).
- Post‑trade training or equivalent experience.
- Experience in maintenance or industrial environments.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to diagnose faults quickly and accurately.
- Welding competency
- Ability to read technical manuals
- Experience with bulk handling and port equipment (desirable).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
