About the Role
Reporting to the Terminal Manager Bulk – NSW, the Operations Manager is responsible for leading terminal operations at the Qube Agri Port Kembla Grain Terminal (Quattro). This role is focused on delivering safe, efficient and high-performing operations while driving a strong safety culture, managing terminal personnel, and ensuring compliance with operational, environmental and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture aligned with Qube's BeSafe philosophy.
- Ensure a safe working environment for employees, contractors and visitors at all times.
- Coordinate and manage daily terminal operations to achieve performance, throughput and service delivery targets.
- Oversee workforce planning, roster allocation and fatigue management requirements.
- Manage annual leave planning to ensure operational coverage and efficiency.
- Lead employee performance management, coaching and development activities.
- Facilitate risk assessments, safety meetings, workplace inspections and safety engagements.
- Ensure incidents, hazards and near misses are reported and managed through the Safety Management System.
- Manage stevedoring activities and contractor performance to support operational outcomes.
- Monitor operational KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
- Ensure compliance with environmental management, quality standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage grain and fertiliser handling operations in line with customer and business requirements.
- Oversee employee training requirements, skills matrices and competency management.
- Support vessel loading operations, weighbridge activities and fumigation processes.
- Build strong relationships with employees, customers, contractors and key stakeholders.

- Demonstrated leadership experience within operations, logistics, ports, agriculture, bulk commodities or related industries.

- Effective communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing operational performance, budgets and productivity outcomes.
- Knowledge of safety management systems, risk management and reporting processes.
- Understanding of industrial relations, enterprise agreements and people management practices.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement / lean or six sigma theory
- Grain industry, grain terminal or port operations experience is desirable but not essential
